Rebirth of a Swiss brand from the 50s

The Lausanne-based cosmetics brand, which had its glory days from 1955 to 1995, is back, supported by Swiss professional snowboarder and musician Pat Burgener.

Founded in 1955 by the grandparents of Swiss snowboarder and musician Pat Burgener, "Lynell" was a Lausanne-based cosmetics brand that enjoyed huge success across Switzerland for almost 40 years. Madeline Burgener, the brand's founder and torchbearer, retired, marking the end of this iconic Swiss cosmetics brand's story, loved by thousands of women across the country.

In 2023, after almost 30 years away, Pat Burgener decided to honor his grandmother's legacy and team up with his entrepreneur brother, Marc-Antoine, and Manon von Graffenried, a cosmetics enthusiast who's worked in the industry in Paris, New York, and Geneva, to bring back this brand with a sparkling past. Pat shares: "When I was little, my grandmother always told me about her travels all over Switzerland, selling her cosmetics in the country's most beautiful palaces." He adds: "The cosmetics industry can often be quite superficial, very focused on appearances. This has a negative effect on young people. We want to help reverse this trend and focus on self-acceptance."

Manon adds: "We want to empower young people to take care of their skin with our Swiss products, made from simple, top-quality ingredients. We want to bring back skin's natural glow and get rid of the need to hide to 'fit in'." She concludes: "Everyone should feel good in their own skin, no compromises."

More than just a cosmetics brand, Lynell Switzerland aims to create accessible, Swiss-made cosmetics, while also tackling the core issue of insecurity caused by social media and marketing pressures that impose idealistic and unattainable beauty standards.

For its comeback, Lynell Switzerland is relaunching an improved version of the brand's original formula, now called Pure-lyn. Made with 96.4% natural ingredients, it deeply cleanses pores and balances skin sebum to heal blemishes.

For daily use all over your face or for local application, the product has shown a significant reduction in blemishes and redness under dermatological control. The next launch will be the Hydra-lyn face cream, which is expected to be a bestseller, and is planned for September.
