Ingredient Blacklist

For our products, we only use ingredients that are proven safe for your skin and biodegradable in nature. 

1. Talc

Why it's toxic: Talc is often contaminated with asbestos, a substance known to cause cancer. If you breathe it in, it can lead to serious breathing problems, including lung cancer.

Environmental impact: Talc is a mineral that doesn't break down easily in nature, so it sticks around and adds to long-term pollution.

EU Regulation: The EU doesn't ban talc in cosmetics, but they do have strict rules about how much asbestos it can contain.

2. Petroleum

Why it's toxic: Petroleum-based ingredients, like petroleum jelly or mineral oils, can clog your pores, which stops your skin from breathing and can make issues like acne worse. They're also connected to allergic reactions.

Environmental impact: Petrochemical products come from resources that can't be replaced and don't break down naturally, so they add to environmental pollution.

EU Regulation: Using petroleum-based ingredients in cosmetics is regulated in Europe, and they need to be strictly purified to get rid of any harmful stuff.

3. Phthalates

Why it's toxic: Phthalates are known hormone disruptors that can mess with your body's hormone system and cause fertility problems. They're also linked to a higher risk of certain cancers.

Environmental impact: Phthalates don't break down easily in nature, which means they can stick around and contaminate our soil and water for a long time.

EU Regulation: The EU bans certain phthalates (like DEHP, DBP, and BBP) in cosmetics because they're harmful to human health.

4. PEG (Polyethylene Glycol)

Why it's toxic: PEGs can sometimes be contaminated with toxic stuff like 1,4-dioxane, which is likely to cause cancer in people. They can also irritate your skin and mess with its natural protective barrier.

Environmental impact: PEGs come from petroleum and don't break down easily, adding to water and soil pollution.

EU Regulation: Even though PEGs aren't banned, the EU has strict rules about how many contaminants can be in these ingredients.

5. Formaldehyde

Why it's toxic: Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen that can irritate your skin, eyes, and airways, and even cause severe allergic reactions.

Environmental Impact: Formaldehyde is a persistent chemical that can pollute our air, water, and soil, harming aquatic life and human health.

EU Regulations: The European Union has banned formaldehyde in cosmetics because it's toxic and can even cause cancer.

6. Sulfates (SLS and SLES)

Why it's toxic: Sulfates like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) can really irritate your skin, making it dry and messing with its natural protective layer.

Environmental Impact: Sulfates come from oil and don't break down easily. This means they pollute our water sources and hurt aquatic animals.

EU Regulations: Even though sulfates aren't banned, the EU keeps a close eye on them and has rules to limit how much can be in your beauty products.

7. Lead

Why it's toxic: Lead is a really strong poison for your brain and nerves. It can cause serious health issues, like problems with kids' development, thinking difficulties, and damage to your kidneys and nervous system.

Environmental Impact: Lead is a heavy metal that never breaks down in nature. It pollutes our soil and water, causing huge problems for both animals and people.

EU Regulations: The European Union has banned lead in beauty products because it's so harmful to our health.

8. Parabens

Why it's toxic: Parabens are preservatives that can mess with your hormones, and some types are even thought to be linked to breast cancer.

Environmental Impact: Parabens don't break down easily and can build up in nature, causing problems for aquatic life.

EU Regulations: The European Union has banned some parabens (like isopropylparaben and isobutylparaben) from cosmetics, and others are tightly controlled to keep risks low.

9. Silicones

Why it's toxic: Silicones, like dimethicone, are often used to make products feel super smooth and silky. But they can also create a barrier on your skin, trapping dirt, bacteria, and oil. This can lead to breakouts, irritation, and toxins building up underneath.

Environmental Impact: Silicones don't break down naturally and stick around in the environment, adding to water pollution. They can build up in ecosystems and harm marine life.

EU Regulations: Silicones aren't banned in the EU, but they're being watched more closely. Specifically, cyclopentasiloxanes (D4) and cyclotetrasiloxanes (D5) are restricted in some products because of their environmental effects.
